December wouldn't be complete without end-of-year questions. We look back at 2025 with Sophie Decroix (Head of HR), Stijn Baert (Head of Sales & Marketing) and Christopher Kyndt (Head of Operations) and discover their new year’s resolutions.
What was the main event of 2025?
Christopher: “In my new role as Head of Operations, I got to know the other business units in more detail. It’s great to see how we’re working better together across departments. Within our telecom business unit, we can see how all departments are now coming together: design, build and in-home. This collaboration will become even more crucial in 2026.”
Sophie: “We went from 18 workplace accidents in 2024 to 11 in 2025. The severity also decreased, from 0.55 to 0.21. Every accident is still one too many, of course, but I believe everyone deserves a pat on the back. The figures clearly show that we are working more and more safely and that safety awareness is alive and well at Circet.”
Stijn: “It was a challenging year, but we landed some great deals: the roll-out of digital meters in Wallonia, renewed collaboration with Nokia, our strategic partnership with Eurofiber and the roll-out of digital water meters in Flanders, to name but a few.”
What did you find difficult or challenging about the past year?
Stijn: “While we may sell a lot of projects, we also have to get them implemented. In my opinion, that too will remain the primary challenge in 2026. Over the next year, we will be handling our project follow-up, as it is by executing projects well and successfully that we make a profit.”
Christopher: “We were challenged by a client to activate their customers’ internet on the same day that we connected the homes to the fibre network. That sounds obvious, but those are two distinct worlds: the so-called dirty boots and clean boots. We took on the challenge and succeeded: we went from proof of concept to over 100 same-day connections a week. We are the only provider in Belgium capable of doing that. That’s because our teams always have the capacity to think out of the box and want to go the extra mile for our customers.”
Sophie: “A lot is changing in the area of HR: the mobility budget, the training policy, wage transparency, etc. Keeping up is the biggest challenge for us as an HR team. But we got a very positive reaction to the introduction of our Flex Income Plan and bike lease.”
What does 2026 hold?
Sophie: “In the coming year, we at HR will continue to focus heavily on well-being. And for that, we need the help of all colleagues. Their feedback is essential if we want to focus on the right areas. At the end of January, we will be launching a major well-being survey to get as much feedback as possible. Measuring is knowing, which means we won't sail blindly and won't come up with initiatives that no one is interested in.”
Stijn: “Christopher already mentioned it: we can expect even more collaboration between the teams, also across borders. For example, we will be working more closely with Circet Netherlands. I am very interested in what Circet is doing in other countries in the energy sector. In the long run, this may open new prospects.”
Christopher: “I would like operations to be more efficient in 2026. Within each project, we will make production and financial insights more visible and monitor them, so that we can deliver projects more efficiently. That’s better for everyone.”
Do you also have personal New Year's resolutions?
Sophie: “I used to be out of breath after climb the stairs in Kontich. Last year I decided to jog for half an hour every week. And I did it: I hope to reach a total running distance of 300 km by year-end. Next year, I will keep doing this, because I feel fitter and it contributes to my general well-being. It's the little things which, together, make a big difference.”
Stijn: “Not always looking at what’s going wrong or which next big problem needs to be solved, but also looking back and being proud of what we’ve accomplished. Over the past five years, we've made tremendous strides. Our organisation has grown, we've secured great contracts, we are making great progress in tooling, marketing... In short, we've already achieved a lot together that we can be very proud of. I would therefore like to thank all the colleagues involved!”
Christopher: “In any case, I’ll continue to push for more collaboration within Circet! My New Year's resolution is to enjoy my family and my job more. At the same time, I also want to walk more than 10,000 steps a day on average.”
What do you wish your colleagues?
Sophie: “Our Human Capital is a treasure trove of talent, experience and motivation. If we leverage all of them, we will undoubtedly make 2026 a success story. I hope that everyone can contribute to this success story and see that they are making an impact – however small that may be – and that they feel good and safe within Circet. If that is not the case, then I, together with my HR team, will be there to provide the necessary support.”
Stijn: “I see that colleagues are now working at the office more often than from home. That’s great, because that’s how you can share experiences, learn and seize opportunities when they arise. Please keep doing this so that we can inspire each other and come up with new ideas and insights together.”
Christopher: “That everyone enjoys their job and life.”
