Superchargers for Electra? We'll do it!

You may have already come across those light green fast charging stations manufactured by Electra. The European supercharger specialist is growing rapidly. Electra is planning to add 15,000 charging stations by 2030. And we are involved in the deployment: we will soon be installing the first fast charger in Herentals. Operations Manager Arnauld Knapen: “We won this contract because of our experience. Now it’s time to prove ourselves.”

Who is Electra?

Making charging as easy as refuelling: that's Electra's mission. By achieving this goal, the originally French player wants to remove all obstacles to electric mobility. They focus on speed – with charging capacities of up to 400 kW, customers can quickly get back on the road– as well as ease of use: clear rates, no card or app required.

By the way, Electra wants to deploy its superchargers throughout Europe. Already active in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Austria and Spain, the group is aiming for 15,000 fast charging points by 2030.

Why did they choose us?

“This is right up our alley,” says Arnauld. “Electra chose us because of our proven expertise in multi-site projects. We are strong in telecom, but in recent years we have increasingly proven ourselves in energy. Just think of the projects we carried out for TotalEnergies, Eneco and Allego. The fact that we are now joining forces with a major European player like Electra is a great testament to our expertise.”

For Circet, this collaboration is also an important step in our own sustainability strategy. Not only do we contribute to technical achievements, we also help build a foundation for future mobility in Belgium and beyond.

What exactly will we be doing?

“We have a contract for the whole of Belgium, but Herentals is a pilot project. How much work follows will depend on that experience. (laughs) But the stakes are high: our goal is a European contract. This is a chance to prove ourselves. If we manage that, we will help build the future of mobility in Europe!”

Specifically, we are going to build 3 fast charging stations with a total of 6 connections in the ALDI Herentals car park. The charging capacity is 400 kW. We will start mid February and deliver by the end of April. Electra takes care of the permit; we do everything else: engineering, project coordination, installation, commissioning, and maintenance.
