When colleague Joey Hendriks joined Circet two years ago, he wanted to grow quickly within our organisation. But into which role exactly was still a question mark. The post-graduate course he is currently following is taking him in the right direction. Icing on the cake, the training is also very valuable for the hardworking and exponentially growing management team.
Training? “The three-year post-graduate course in Telecom Business and Management. I just completed my second year.”
His take-away? “All kinds of things, because the training consists of different modules. But especially in the areas of self-development, process management and capacity management.”
Score? “I’ll give the training two scores. In terms of self-development, I’m rating it at 9. To the course itself, I’ll give a 7.5.”
Why are you taking this course?
“I’ve always had a career path in mind. I also heard very good feedback about this course. So, I took the plunge – I had only been working at Circet for a month – and asked if I could follow this training. And yes, I was able to start immediately. That felt very good: Circet clearly trusted me and wanted to invest in me.”
What did you learn?
“The training consists of various modules, about three to four each year. The first module was about operational speed, which is mainly about yourself as an employee. What are your strengths and weaknesses, and above all: what is your value in the company? Very interesting and relevant, because it means you start the training in an enhanced state of mindfulness.
We then zoomed in on project management, process management and time management. Extremely relevant, because in my job I have been asked to write an improvement plan for Deltafiber Beheer. These modules were a perfect fit for this task: I was able to apply what I learnt directly in practice.
By the way, the same applies to many more modules: this training was developed by the Ferocia training institute in consultation with Circet. And it is therefore very focused on our daily work, which makes it very useful and valuable.”

Which module did you find the most valuable so far?
“Capacity management. My department – Management department within the NOC – is extremely busy. While teams usually start by asking for more HR capacity, in the module we investigated how much work an average colleague does and how much time that person actually works. This allows us to define perfectly the resources we need. And thus ask management for reinforcement in a well-reasoned manner.”
You’ve given the course 2 different scores. How so?
“When I started at Circet, I knew I wanted to grow, but I didn’t know in which direction. I enjoyed doing everything and was a jack of all trades. Thanks to the training, I know that I want to go in the process-oriented direction, instead of the executive side. It has given me guidance: now, I can learn in a targeted way. So, in terms of self-development, I’m giving the training a 9.
To the course itself, a 7.5. Somewhat lower than a 9, and that is mainly due to the fact that we sometimes go through some modules too quickly. I would like to have a bit more time to apply all the theory in practice.”
