Q2 2024: 5 key takeaways

“We got off to a difficult start in 2024,” was our CEO’s introduction to his presentation during the quarterly meeting. The second quarter of 2024 also brought us challenges and new opportunities. We learnt valuable lessons for the future from the setbacks we faced. Bavo shared 5 critical insights based on the figures of the past months.

1. Weather conditions and permits critical to success

In recent months, our fibre roll-out has been strongly affected by the persistent bad weather and some permit issues in the run-up to the elections. This has seriously delayed our teams in the field, and we see that in the numbers as well. Although these circumstances are beyond our control, this does emphasise the importance of flexibility and foresight in our processes.

2. Process optimisation is crucial

In addition to external factors, there are also internal challenges, such as our focus on continuous improvement. I am referring to our Maverick programme. We must continue to examine our own processes critically and ensure that we always deliver top quality. That's why customers choose us and enjoy working with us.

3. The mobile market remains challenging

The dependence on Nokia and Ericsson – due to the restrictions on Chinese mobile equipment – ​​complicates our operations. Things are not easy for these companies either, which makes negotiations and mutual cooperation more complex. But we have no choice but to adapt to this reality.

4. Focus on digitisation and scaling up

The future holds many opportunities, but there is still much work to be done. Our main mission: digitise and scale up. Uniform, standardised work processes are crucial if we want to keep growing. This is enabled by our powerful Service Cruiser tool and the continued roll-out of Dynamics 365.

5. Safety as top priority

While there were no workplace accidents in May, we did have some serious incidents in June. It is of the utmost importance that we all take responsibility for safe working conditions. Regardless of your role or level, safety must always come first; so, tell your colleagues if you notice any unsafe situations.

With the insights from the previous quarters, we can improve our strategies and prepare for a successful second half of the year. Safety, quality and adaptability remain our core values. We strive to achieve or even exceed our goals.
