Meet Marcel Span
Function: Assistant Project Manager of the Service, Management & Maintenance department
Number of years employed: 10 years at Alfatech, since June 2023 at Circet
Site/department: Amersfoort
📣 The Amersfoort-based company Alfatech joined the Circet family in June. Alfatech is a specialist in telecom, data, security and electrical engineering. Want to read more about the acquisition of Alfatech? Follow this link.
How did the transition from Alfatech to Circet go?
“With all the Alfatech colleagues, we went to a meeting where CEO Bavo De Cock provided clear information about Circet, its future plans, and Alfatech’s role in them. Afterwards, we had the opportunity to meet the management over food and drinks. Very nice, and much more personal than just receiving an email or video.”
"We got a personalised welcom at Circet. That was really nice."
How do you help build the infrastructure of tomorrow?
“As Assistant Project Manager, I manage my own Service, Management & Maintenance department. I receive maintenance and troubleshooting questions from customers, relating to broken cameras, intercoms, monitors, or defective lighting, for example. I also schedule regular maintenance for customers and ensure that technicians have the right equipment.”
We have many different customers throughout the Netherlands, including luxury brands such as Dior, Louis Vuitton, and Dolce & Gabbana. But also, for example, the police in Amsterdam, for which a colleague recently repaired some monitors in a cell block. Quite stressful, because the work had to be done fast of course!”
"My team solves technical problems for customers such as Dior, Louis Vuitton and the police."
What do you like most about your job?
“I know it is Coolblue’s slogan, but I also like to use it: ‘Anything for a smile.” That’s my motto. The best part of our work is that we solve problems. And that means happy customers. I am also extremely satisfied with my team. We support each other very well, which makes us a top team.”
Which challenges do you face?
“We have a lot of work and new colleagues are difficult to find. That’s why planning can often be a big puzzle. I have to filter jobs by priority, while keeping all customers happy at the same time. Good communication and managing expectations are very important.”
Which tip would you give a Circet newcomer?
“Would you like to keep growing? Then state your ambitions and go for it! That’s how I started out as a technician myself, and I followed my own path with great enthusiasm.”
