Digital Cleanup Day: our digital spring cleaning

Emails, AI, cloud files... They all cause CO2 emissions that should not be underestimated. Even old emails and files that we no longer need continue to consume energy as long as we do not delete them. At Circet, we want to do something about it. The Digital Cleanup Day on March 14 therefore couldn't have come at a better time.

What is Digital Cleanup Day?

Working digitally has many advantages, but we do not always take into account its ecological consequences. Emails, AI applications, cloud files... they all require a lot of energy and produce CO2 emissions.

That’s why Digital Cleanup Day was created. Every year in March, this initiative makes us aware of our use of digital media/storage and urges us to reduce our digital waste mountain.

Why are we supporting this campaign?

On March 14, we participated in Digital Cleanup Day for the first time. This participation fits perfectly with our ESG goals, whose aim is to make us a more sustainable company. The purpose of this action is to make all colleagues aware of the ecological impact of digital applications.

Which measures are we already taking?

We are already working hard to limit the use of resources (storage accounts, web application hosting, etc.). We do this by turning off these resources when they are not being used – for example on weekends – and downsizing them when full capacity is not needed. We also work with the Azure cloud platform, a Microsoft service that is CO2-neutral. Azure takes measures to reduce its own CO2 emissions and invests in projects that reduce CO2 emissions.

What can you do as an employee?

Now that this edition of Digital Cleanup Day is behind us, maintaining good digital habits is even more important. This way we can all reduce our digital footprint together!
