Sh*ft happens
“I really wanted to do other things and still remain loyal to Circet. Mission accomplished!”

From an initial role in the HR department to, seven years later, handling permit applications for our new customer Wyre: such is the unusual career path followed by Nadia within Circet. “I love finding my own way in my job.”
Can you keep growing or switch to another function? Dozens of people are doing just that at Circet. In Sh*ft happens we explore the professional journey of a colleague.
Meet Nadia Nadia Grini (44) was born and raised in Antwerp. She has 3 children and has been with Circet for 7 years. In her spare time, she loves nothing more than baking festive cakes; she even made it a side job for a while. |
👉Nadia, what was your first job at Circet like?
“7 years ago, I joined the company then called ESAS as a Recruitment Officer. In that role, I supported the recruiters. But gradually I also took on all kinds of other HR support tasks. I followed up on occupational accident files, scheduled medical checks for colleagues, and so on.
It was clear from the start that I needed variety. Fortunately, my manager sensed this and I was given many other tasks to focus my energy on. But anyway, I am not a person who likes to stay in the same spot for years.”
👉 For sure, you now have a totally different role. How did you start your Sh*ft process?
“Every year during my performance review, I'd mention that I would like to do other things. My Talent Manager was also aware of this. But I definitely didn't want to leave Circet. I watched the company grow and change and was given many opportunities to take on new tasks.
There were many interesting vacancies in the HR department. But most of the time they didn't match what I was looking for. Until suddenly jobs appeared for Wyre (*), our new customer. My Talent Manager put me in touch with the team leader of the Permit department; we met and I was selected for the job. I am very happy because I wanted to do new things and still remain loyal to the company. Mission accomplished.”
(*) Wyre is a new infrastructure company tasked with the installation of fibre optic cables in Flanders. The joint venture was set up by Fluvius and Telenet.

Recruitment Officer ➡️ | Permit administrator ➡️ |
As Recruitment Officer, Nadia provided support to the HR department: recruitment and selection, occupational accident files, scheduling medical checks, etc. | After 7 years, Nadia shifted from HR to the Permit department for the brand-new Wyre venture. She applies for permits with cities and municipalities and handles requests for street works notices. |
👉 Did the move to a new role create more variety?
"Absolutely! And my administrative tasks are also very challenging. I submit applications for permits and street works notices, but no two projects are the same. There are also many different parties involved: municipal authorities, our project coordinator, the site manager, the teams at the project location, etc. It’s that slightly chaotic hustle and bustle that gives me energy.”

– Nadia Grini, Permit Administrator
👉 What do you like most about your new role?
“Wyre is a new customer, so our organisation is still finding its feet. I like to find my own way in my job, not everything should be set in stone. Which is also the biggest difference with HR, where every task is part of an established process.”
👉 Are there aspects of the shift you found difficult?
"Sure. Now, I am constantly liaising with various parties to resolve questions or issues. Teams are at a standstill if their permit is not ready, so that puts a certain pressure on you. I wouldn't call it difficult, but it did take some getting used to in the beginning. In HR I worked much more individually and at my own pace, deadlines were never so strict.”
